#3 Emory Tops UR 9-0 at UAA's

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL- The University of Rochester mens tennis squad was halted 9-0 by #3 ranked Emory University on Friday during the first round of play at the UAA Tennis Championships.
 
Emory (13-9) swept all three doubles and won five of six singles matches in straight sets to move on to the semi-finals.  Rochester (13-9) got its best match result from #3 singles player Julian Danko who took the opening set against Emory's Ian Wagner.  Wagner, the #45 ranked singles player in Division III fell 6-4 in the first set, but rebounded to win 6-3, 6-1 in the final two to grab the point over UR's Danko.
 
In other tight matches, junior Boris Borovcanin lost 6-4, 7-5 at #2 singles to Alex Ruderman while freshman Matt Levine was a 6-2, 6-4 loser at #1 singles to Eric Halpern who is ranked in the top five in the Atlantic/South region by the ITA.
 
In doubles, Borovcanin and Danko would fall 8-3 at the #1 position while freshman Ian Baranowski and senior Joel Allen put up a fight at #3 by lost by an 8-4 score.
 
In the semis, Emory now will face the winner of the Carnegie Mellon/Chicago match with the Yellowjackets taking on the team that drops that match.
