Mevorach A Double Winner For UR vs. Azusa Pacific

AZUSA, CA - Freshman Aaron Mevorach of the University of Rochester men's tennis team had a hand in both of Rochester's points in a 7-2 loss to Division II Azusa Pacific Univeristy on Thursday.
 
APU, the #12 ranked team in D-II is now 9-1 on the season and has won seven straight matches while the Yellowjackets drop to 3-6 overall.
 
Mevorach teamed with Ian Baranowski at 2nd doubles to grab Rochester's first point.  They won 9-7 over Ben Eger and Pascal Engel.  At 1st doubles, Ben Shapiro and Julian Danko fell to Jan Meyer and Gary Yam 8-4 while UR's 3rd doubles pair of Sam Leeman and Jonny Baker would drop their match 8-6 to Shepherd Newcomb and Alan Leahy.
 
In singles, Azusa Pacific would grab the match win with straight set wins at positions 1, 2 and 4 in the ladder.  Meyer would top Shapiro 6-2, 6-2, Eger over Baker 6-1, 6-3 and Yam over Danko 6-3, 6-1, respectively.
 
Mevorach would then earn UR's lone singles win, topping Sasha Kingsley 7-6 (7), 7-6 (3) at the #6 spot.
 
Closing out the match, Leahy would beat Leeman at 5th singles 6-4, 6-3 and Engel would defeat Baranowski at 3rd singles 6-3, 1-6, 13-11.
 
Rochester closes its spring break California trip with a matchup against Biola University on Friday.
