ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL - #2 ranked and top-seeded Emory University defeated the University of Rochester men's tennis team 9-0 in the quarterfinals of the UAA Championships on Friday morning.

The loss drops UR's record to 9-10 on the year while the Eagles move on to Saturday's semifinals and push their record to 15-4 on the season.

Rochester was able to hang with Emory in doubles play, even though all three Eagle pairs are either nationally or regionally ranked. The biggest battle was at #1 doubles where Rochester's
Masaru Fujimaki and
Aaron Mevorach took Emory's Scott Rubinstein and James Spaulding to the brink, falling 9-7. Rubenstein and Spaulding are the #1 team in the Atlantic South region and are also ranked #18 nationally.

Emory took the other two doubles spots by 8-3 scores. At #2, Max Renke and Adrien Bouchet defeated
Mattias Hartveit and
Sam Leeman while at #3, it was EU's David Omsky and Jonathan Jemison, the #1 doubles team in the country, topping UR's
Andrew Nunno and
Tanmay Thakkar.

In singles, the Eagles displayed their depth, bringing in three new faces to the lineup. Ultimately, Emory swept past UR in all six matches, winning each in straight sets.

At #1, top-ranked DIII singles player Aman Manji defeated Leeman 6-1, 6-1. Jemison, the #10 nationally ranked player, defeated Fujimaki 6-2, 6-0 at #2 while Bouchet won 6-1, 6-1 over
Jun Yuminaga at the #3 spot.

Rounding out singles, Alec Josepher won over Thakkar 6-0, 6-0 at #4, Josh Goodman topped Mevorach 6-1, 6-2 at #5 and Rubenstein won 6-2, 6-1 at #6 over
Yifan Shen.

Rochester will play in the consolation round against 5th seeded Case Western University at 2 PM on Saturday. Emory faces Carnegie Mellon in the semifinals.
