CLINTON, NY – The University of Rochester men's and women's tennis teams both posted seven singles wins to close out play at the Hamilton College Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
The tournament format was each of the four teams in the event playing a full lineup of either singles or doubles against each of the other teams. Sunday saw UR play singles against the Union women and the Ithaca men, with host Hamilton finishing out the four-team field.
Against Union, Rochester's women posted seven victories in nine matches.
Krithi Krishna had an 8-0 win over her opponent, while teammates
Bianca Dyer and
Abbey Reinhart posted 8-1 wins.
Dyer had three total wins on the weekend.
Four Yellowjackets edged out 8-7 wins in the pro-set format and one other fell by that score, as
Cami Ruiz Vega,
Sravya Gudipudi,
Yaya Wang and
Natalie Ramesh had the wins.
Rola Abouzeina narrowly lost in the tiebreak with
Olivia Waysack also being defeated in her match.
The UR men also had seven wins, coming in eight matches against Ithaca. Michael Rudi and
Antony Georgiadis each won 8-0, while
Yifan Shen and
Connor Wagner won 8-1 in their matches.
The other Yellowjacket winners were
Tanmay Thakkar (8-3),
Kai Yuminaga (8-5) and
Peter Huang (8-4).
Matt Resnikoff was the only UR player to fall in his match, dropping an 8-6 match.
This event closes out the fall portion of the schedule for both the men's and women's teams, with the spring semester season starting back up in February.
