CANTON, NY – First-year Krish Vennam made waves in his first collegiate tournament for the University of Rochester men's tennis team, capturing the A Flight singles title at the St. Lawrence University Fall Classic on Sunday afternoon.
 
Vennam finished the weekend going 4-0 in singles play to start his UR career. After two wins on Saturday, Vennam started play on Sunday with an 8-4 win in the semifinals against teammate Kai Yuminaga in the semifinals of the top flight of singles play.
 
In the finals, Vennam was matched up against Connor Griff of Hamilton College and emerged with an 8-4 victory.
 
The other Yellowjacket in action on Sunday was senior Pasquale Procaccino in the A singles consolation bracket. Procaccino posted an 8-2 win over Ithaca's Minos Stavrakas in the consolation semis before defaulting in his match in the final against Ioannis Binopoulous of Union.
 
Rochester's next event of the fall is the ITA Regional Championships taking place at Hobart College on October 1-3.
