BOSTON, MA – The University of Rochester men's track and field wrapped up its weekend at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational with several highlights, new personal bests and All-Atlantic Region Track & Field (AARTFC) performance on Saturday at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center.
The Rochester men scored three regional qualifiers and set five new personal bests while
Sean Hendricks and
Gabe Thyne each ran one of the fastest times in program history in their respective events.
Daniel Ford got the Yellowjackets started in the 800 meters, pacing the UR trio with his time of 1:55.36, a new indoor personal best for the senior. Ford's time was good for 154th in the field of nearly 275 and marked Rochester's first regional-qualifying time of the day. Both
Christian Voloshen and
Skye Crocker also ran the 800 meters for UR, with Voloshen finishing 256th (2:01.39) and Crocker coming in 261st with a time of 2:04.31.
Thyne then ran the fourth-fastest 400 meters in UR men's track & field program history, finishing 39th overall in the event. Thyne clocked in at 48.91s, an AARTFC qualifier and a new personal-best time that currently ranks tied for 36th in NCAA Division III.
Also in the 400 meters,
Max Creamer finished 116th, crossing the finish line in 50.63s, while first-year
Evan Bryant set a new season-high mark with a time of 51.02s, good for 126th.
Next up in the 200 meters,
P.J. London paced the Yellowjackets, finishing 93rd overall with a time of 22.61, while
Manny Eribo notched a new PR with his time of 23.10, good for 140th. Senior
Mitch Lienert then came in 151st, clocking it at 23.26s.
In the 4x400-meter relay, London, Bryant, Creamer and Voloshen took the baton for the Yellowjackets, finishing third in their heat and 39th overall with a time of 3:26.82.
Sean Hendricks then wrapped up the 'Jackets' day with another Top-10 mark in program history, setting a new PR with his 4:13.80 time in the mile. Hendricks' time crushed his previous high by nearly eight seconds and ranks as the fourth-fastest time in program history, while also qualifying the junior for regionals.
James Catania also ran the mile for UR, finishing 348th in the nearly 400-runner field with a time of 4:27.98.
The Yellowjackets return home for their final meet before Liberty Leagues, the Nazareth Conference Tune-Up, hosted by Nazareth University, on Friday, Feb. 16 beginning at 4:00 p.m.
