CANTON, NY – The University of Rochester men's track and field team earned five event victories on Saturday at the 2024 Indoor Liberty League Track and Field Championships, leading to a runner-up finish in the team scoring at the St. Lawrence University Newell Field House.
Rochester ended the two-day meet with 180.5 total points, ranking second among the eight teams in the conference. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute earned the win with a team score of 228 points, snapping Rochester's streak of two straight indoor league titles. RIT ended a distant third on the team scoreboard, ending with 99 points.

In addition to the wins, eight performances qualified Rochester for the All-Atlantic Regional Championships next week and two individuals cracked the top-35 on the NCAA Division III performance list.
Hendricks got things started for the Yellowjackets with a terrific run in the 800 meters, leading to a huge personal-best time and AAR qualifier. His time ended up at 1:53.35 and now ranks #16 in the Division III rankings.
In the field, Johnson led a quartet of Yellowjacket scorers in the weight throw with his win. The senior scored a new PR distance of 17.75 meters, moving up to #31 on the national performance list in Division III.
Teammate
Zajans Crapo earned All-Liberty League praise for his third place result in 16.11 meters while
Nolan Ragland ended fifth at 15.96 meters. Both qualified for regionals.
Kevin Fobare tossed 15.12 meters to claim eighth place and set a new personal-best.
Rochester's highest scoring event of the weekend was the triple jump, led by Goodman's win. The junior All-American claimed first with a new meet record jump of 14.86 meters which also was a regional qualifier. Goodman earned the Most Outstanding Field Performer of the Meet honors after going two-for-two with event wins, winning the long jump during Friday's action.

Manny Eribo earned runner-up honors at 13.12 meters in his first ever time competing in the event, while classmate
Sam Lorenzetti made it a 1-2-3 sweep for the 'Jackets at 12.99 meters.
Kyle Lane (12.86 meters),
Reward Mulauzi (12.69 meters) and
Joseph Smith (12.49 meters) all scored as well, ranking fifth, sixth and eighth, respectively.
UR's three competitors in the heptathlon all finished in the top five in that event. Angelone won with a score of 4,538 points,
Gabe Thyne was second at 4,401 points and
Ashton Tokarski was fifth, scoring 3,853 points.
Angelone's day featured a win in the pole vault multi-event competition, clearing 4.15 meters. He also was third in the 60 meter hurdles (9.07 seconds) and sixth in the 1000 meters. Thyne ranked first in the hurdles with a PR of 8.84 seconds and crossed second in the 1000 meters (3:00.64). Tokarski's score was a new season-best, while he also scored fourth during the 1000 meters (3:02.46).
Jain's win came in the high jump, as the sophomore reached a height of 1.94 meters. Angelone also competed in that event on Saturday, ranking fifth after a 1.79 meter clearance.
To close out the competition, UR's 4x400 meter relay team of

Max Creamer and Hendricks ran to a third place result in 3:29.15.
London also competed in both the 60 meters and 200 meters, scoring top-8 results and regional qualifiers in both. The junior finished third in the 200 meters in 22.44 seconds and crossed the finish in fourth in the 60 meters with a 7.05 second time. Eribo joined his teammate on the podium in the 60, finishing seventh in 7.15 seconds.
First-year
Mark Magyar also ended seventh in a sprint event, earning that placement in the 60 meter hurdles with a finals time of 8.99 seconds.
Additionally,
James Catania just missed the podium in the 3000 meters, but earned a spot at regionals with his ninth place time of 8:34.95.
Up next, qualified individuals will compete at the All-Atlantic Regional Track & Field Championships next Friday and Saturday at Nazareth University.
