UR Men Score Trio of Event Wins at Brockport Invite

BROCKPORT, NY – University of Rochester men's track and field picked up three event wins, added a meet record and notched three regional qualifiers en route to a fourth-place result on day two of the Brockport Multi & Invitational on Saturday at Brockport's Special Events and Recreation Center.
 
Manny Eribo, Sean Hendricks and Jordan Johnson notched UR's three event wins, coming in the long jump, 1,000 meters and weight throw, respectively. Eribo led the long jump field with a mark of 6.85m, hitting a regional-qualifying mark, while Johnson beat out 45 other competitors with a 16.86m throw, another All-Atlantic Region Track & Field (AARTFC) qualifier.
 
Hendricks took home the individual win in the 1,000 meters, setting a new meet record with his 2:29.90 time.
 
The Yellowjackets also added five more top-three finishes on the day, the first two of which came in the heptathlon. After knocking out the first four events of the heptathlon on Friday, Aeden Angelone and Gabe Thyne stood in second and third, respectively, following the final three events of the competition.
 
Angelone took second with a new personal-best 4,854-point score, a top-15 mark in NCAA Division III, while Thyne took third with 4,529 points, also a personal best and a top-30 mark in DIII. Angelone won the heptathlon 1,000 meter with a time of 2:48.67 while finishing second in the pole vault (4.25m) and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles.
 
Thyne took second in both the 60-meter hurdles (8.97s) and 1,000 meters (2:49.22) and eighth in the pole vault to achieve his score, while Ashton Tokarski joined the duo in the top 10 with an eighth-place finish.
 
After Garrett Dietrich paced UR in the 60-meter hurdles with a ninth-place finish, crossing the finish line in 9.38s, P.J. London added UR's first top-three result of the day on the track. After London and Eribo both qualified for the finals, London took home second with his 7.11s time, while Eribo ran to an eighth-place result, clocking in at 7.51s.
 
In the high jump, Aadit Jain finished third, surpassing the 1.86m bar, while Ethan Beer scored UR's last top-three result with his 14.30m throw in the shot put, also good for third. Dylan Rykert also joined Beer in the top-10 with a 12.70m throw, good for ninth, with Zajans Crapo (15.49m, 6th) and Nolan Ragland (14.73m, 9th) joined Johnson in the top 10 of the weight throw, with Crapo setting a new PR.
 
Vishal Yalamanchili added another AARTFC mark and new personal-best time in the 3,000-meters, running to a sixth-place result with a time of 8:46.54, while a pair of first-years, Evan Bryant and Andrew Scheible, both set new season-best times in their respective events. Bryant finished 11th in the 200 meters, pacing the 'Jackets with a time of 23.62s, while Scheible ran the mile, clocking in at 4:36.03.
 
Elsewhere on the day, Colin Hascup finished fourth in the 800 meters, crossing the finish line in 2:03.47, while Max Creamer earned UR's top finish, 13th, in the 400 meters with a time of 52.23.
 
In the 600 meters, Daniel Ford and Skye Crocker placed fourth and fifth, with times of 1:23.91 and 1:25.54, respectively, while the Yellowjackets' relay team of London, Christian Voloshen, Hendricks and Ford wrapped up the day with a fifth-place result and 3:44.30 time in the 4x400 relay.
 
SUNY Geneseo took home the team title with 168 points, while Brockport and RIT rounded out the top three with 167.5 and 99 points, respectively. Rochester came in with 90 points, with fifth-place finisher St. John Fisher scoring 68.5.
 
Next up for Rochester is a split-squad weekend, with the Yellowjackets heading to Boston, MA for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational beginning on Friday, Feb. 9 at 9:00 a.m., as well as the RIT Friday Night Invite at 4:00 p.m.
