Several University of Rochester men's track and field athletes earned event wins, with multiple adding season or career-best results as the Yellowjackets competed at the RIT Friday Night Invite at the Gordon Fieldhouse.

On the night, the Yellowjackets picked up four event wins, had three All-Atlantic Regional qualifying performances and piled up 13 total top-3 results in the competition.

Senior thrower
Jordan Johnson led the strong effort with a new career-best in the weight throw, earning a mark of 17.47 meters, good for first place and an AAR qualifying mark. Additionally, Johnson's distance moved him up to 27th on the Division III performance list so far this season.

Three other teammates ended in the top-8 in the same event, with
Zajans Crapo placing second,
Nolan Ragland fifth and
Armaan Butler seventh. Crapo also had a personal-best distance of 16.14 meters, also securing a regional qualifier. Ragland finished at 15.28 meters and Butler's mark was 14.47 meters.

Senior
Nick Gaitanis kicked off the meet with a strong run in the 5000 meters, crossing the stripe in 15:23.71, an AAR performance and an indoor personal-best.
Zach Spergel ended runner-up in 15:32.47 and Drew Garriger cracked the top-5 with a 16:16.35 run.

Later on in the mile, three 'Jackets finished in the top-4, with
Vishal Yalamanchili leading the group. He finished first in 4:27.50, edging out runner-up teammate
Nolan Goldthwaite who clocked in at 4:27.69. Jon Sullo placed fourth in 4:29.38, with both Goldthwaite and Sullo earning PR's.

Johnson is inside Division III's top-30 in the weight throw.
UR's jumpers had a solid day in the field, securing eight top-5 results.

In the high jump, sophomore
Aadit Jain won with a height of 1.87 meters.
Tate Finger finished tied for third at 1.77 meters.

During the triple jump, rookie
Reward Mulauzi was runner-up in 13.03 meters. He also finished fourth in the long jump at 6.32 meters.
Kyle Lane led the group in the long jump with a third place result at 6.50 meters and ended in the same spot during the triple jump event, posting a leap of 12.90 meters.
Kyle Kelsey (6.30 meters) and
Maxwell Zielonka (12.58 meters) finished fifth in the long and triple jumps, respectively.

Elsewhere in the field, first-year
Ethan Beer was second in the shot put with a 13.80 meter heave. Dylan Ryker added a fifth place result with a 12.73 meter toss.

Adding to the strong effort by the distance runners, junior
Richard Santarosa placed third in the 3000 meters, posting a time of 9:30.15.

UR had two top-8 finishers in the 60 meters, led by Jain in fifth at 7.33 seconds. Kelsey finished eighth in the tight race, posting a finals time of 7.35 seconds.

Mark Magyar led the 'Jacket runners in the 60 meter hurdles with a fifth place effort in 9.16 seconds. During the 400 meters,
Colin Hascup clocked in at 53.25 seconds, good for sixth.

Closing out action on the track was UR's 4x400 meter relay team of
Elijah VanHoover,
Andrew Scheible,
Jesse Rinzel and
Sam Yacob in sixth place (3:47.37).

The rest of the Yellowjackets will finish off the split-squad weekend by competing at the Boston University David Hemery Invitational on Saturday.
