VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Three University of Rochester individuals brought home All-America accolades on Saturday afternoon, helping the Yellowjacket men's track and field team to a top-10 finish overall at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex.
Overall, Rochester scored in three of four events it had entries in and finished with 14 team points, the most ever by a UR squad at the indoor NCAA meet. UR finished in a tie for tenth among 64 schools that scored a point and ended with the best team finishing position indoors in school history.

Cole Goodman ended as national runner-up in the triple jump for the second straight season, ending in second place with a leap of 15.27 meters (50'1.75"). Goodman started his day with a leap of 14.68 meters, ranking second after the opening round of jumps. After a foul, Goodman moved into the top spot after clearing 15.08 meters.
During the finals, Goodman saw eventual champion Shelvin Garrett II bypass him with a 15.47 meter jump. In round five, the UR junior dropped to third place after Dontre Sinegal earned a 15.27 meter distance. On his final jump, Garrett improved to his winning mark of 15.97 meters. Goodman followed him with his best jump of the day to move into runner-up position.
The second place result earns Goodman his fifth all-time All-America honor and third overall indoors. Yesterday during the long jump, the junior placed fifth.
Angelone's pole vault effort proved big.
Junior
Sean Hendricks capped off his remarkable indoor campaign with a First Team All-America award after finishing seventh in the 800 meter finals. After breaking the school record in a gutsy preliminary race on Friday, Hendricks was guaranteed a podium spot if he finished the race on Saturday.
In the final, Hendricks sat towards the back of a crowded pack for the first two laps around the 200 meter track. During lap three, he found some space in an outside lane and moved up to sixth as he began his final trip around the track. In the mad sprint to the line, Hendricks was passed by one runner, ending the race in seventh, less than a second out of fifth.
Rochester's third athlete at the meet was senior
Aeden Angelone in the heptathlon. Angelone recorded a strong second day overall, moving up from 16th after the opening four events on day one to his finishing place of 12th. The senior scored a total of 4,792 points over the seven-event multi competition.
Angelone started his day two with a 9.01 second time in the 60 meter hurdles, ranking 16th and scoring 744 points towards his total. The pole vault proved to be a difference maker in the standings for Angelone, as he cleared a personal-best tying 4.25 meters to rank fourth in the field, scoring 688 points.
The final event of the competition was the 1000 meters and Angelone recorded another strong result, scoring 773 points, most among any of the events at the meet. His finishing time was 2:49.30 and ranked seventh quickest among the heptathletes. That result and score moved him up another three spots into his finishing position on the leaderboard.
Angelone earns his first career All-America award with the finish, as the top-16 individual finishers garner the accolade this year for the first time.
