MYRTLE BEACH, SC –
Cole Goodman, University of Rochester men's track and field's lone competitor on day one of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship, earned First-Team All-America honors to kickstart the Yellowjackets' weekend inside Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
Goodman took home his sixth-career All-America honors and third in the long jump with a seventh-place result in the event. Goodman, competing in the second flight of the long jump, got off his best jump of the day on his first attempt, landing a 7.33m leap.
The junior's leap advanced Goodman to the final nine, where he had three more attempts, but his first leap would prove to be his best of the day, earning Goodman a spot on the podium for the third-straight season.
Goodman's seventh-place finish earned the UR men two team points, and through the first five events of the NCAA Outdoor Championships, Rochester, as a team, sits tied for 28th out of 35 scoring teams. Wisconsin-Oshkosh leads the field with 18 points, while Wartburg sits in second place with 12 points.
