MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Junior
Sean Hendricks wrapped up an outstanding year on the track with a 21st place finish in the 800 meters during day two of competition at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
Hendricks, who earned First Team All-America honors indoors in the 800 meters, completed the 2024 outdoor campaign by posting a time of 1:54.67 in his race on Friday evening.
The junior ended seventh in his heat which was one of two that sent three runners to the 8-runner championship final on Saturday.
Hendricks' appearance in the 800 meters was just the third in Rochester school history in that event at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. He joins Frank Ramirez '12, who qualified for nationals outdoors in the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
The result did not yield any team points for the Rochester men on Friday, with UR sitting at two points through eight scored events in the three-day meet. The remaining 12 finals will be contested on Saturday, with Rochester's
Cole Goodman competing in the triple jump as the team's final entry.
Rochester is currently tied for 36th place overall in the team standings.
