Clinton, NY – The University of Rochester women's cross country team competed against some quality competition, finishing as the runner-up at the Hamilton College Short Course Invitational.
The Yellowjackets compiled a team score of 68 points, placing second out of eight teams. Host Hamilton secured first place with a team score of 30 points.
Rochester had five runners finish in the top 20, led by senior
Sab Lin, who posted a time of 15:07.8 and finished eighth overall.
Seniors
Kat Benninger and
Ellie Ponko finished back-to-back in 10th and 11th place, with times of 15:15.8 and 15:17.8, respectively.
First-year
Maria Khalifeh finished 19th with a time of 15:37.3, while junior
Riley Joseph claimed 20th place in 15:43.4.
Sophomore
Ella Blau and senior
Alicia Lawson were the displacers, finishing 24th and 27th, respectively. Blau clocked in at 15:46.8, and Lawson finished in 15:52.8.
Andie Burton (33rd, 15:56.9),
Ariane Yedidia (42nd, 16:09.0),
Alyssa Horng (49th, 16:29.2), and
Emily Dill (50th, 16:30.5) rounded out the top 50 for the Yellowjackets in a field of 106 runners.
Rochester's next meet is their lone home meet of the year, the University of Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational, scheduled for Saturday, September 21 at 10 a.m. at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester, NY.
