Genesee Valley Park - The University of Rochester women's cross-country team ran to a fifth-place finish out of 17 teams at its lone home meet of the season, the UR Yellowjacket Invitational, on Saturday morning at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester, NY.
Rochester complied 128 points for a fifth-place finish and ranked fourth out of the competing NCAA Division III teams. SUNY Geneseo were the meet winners with 32 points, followed by Colgate University and Gettysburg College with 82 and 83 points, respectively. This is UR's first 6K competition of the season.
The Yellowjackets top runner was
Maria Khalifeh with a 16th-place finish and a time of 23.43.9.
Ellie Ponko and
Sab Lin both had top 30 performances with Ponko finishing 21st with a time of 23.57.5, and Lin finishing 29th with a time of 24:13.0.
Ella Blau finished in 34th place with a time of 24:18.5.
Riley Joseph finished just behind her in 35th place with a time of 24:19.2, while
Andie Burton crossed the finish line in 36th place with a time of 24:21.4.
Rounding out the top 60 for the Yellowjackets were
Kat Benninger with a 39th-place finish and a time of 24:25.0 and
Alicia Lawson with a 60th-place result and a time of 24:53.5.
Rochester has next week off, before returning to the course at the Fredonia Kara Hall Memorial Invite on October 5th at 11:00 a.m. in Fredonia, NY.
