HENRIETTA, NY – Four different Yellowjackets placed atop the podium, notching five regional qualifying marks as the University of Rochester men's track and field program competed at the RIT Indoor Invitational on Thursday evening inside Gordon Fieldhouse.
UR's four event-winners were
Manny Eribo in the long jump,
Mitch Lienert in the 200 meters,
Ronan Marston in the 60 meters and
Reward Mulauzi in the triple jump.
Eribo led a trio of Yellowjackets in the top four of the long jump, notching a regional-qualifying mark with his 6.71m, first-place leap.
Sam Lorenzetti joined Eribo in the top three jumpers with a 6.44m distance, good for second, while
Austin Lansey took fourth (6.37m).
Eribo also joined Lienert in the 200 meters, where the graduate student took home first place. Lienert ran a 22.14-second 200 meters, hitting the All-Atlantic Region Indoor Track & Field Championships (AARTFC) qualifying mark, while running the 15th-fastest 200 meters in NCAA Division III so far this season. Eribo finished fifth, crossing the finish line in 23.59 seconds, while
Evan Bryant scored a third-place result with his 23.27-second time.
Marston finished first in both the 60-meter prelims and final, clocking in at 7.01 in the prelims to hit the AARTFC mark, before running a 7.03 in the final. In the prelims, Mulauzi finished second, setting a new personal-best time of 7.06s, while Bryant finished seventh in both the prelims and final, crossing the finish line in 7.25s in the prelims and 7.24 in the final, a new PR.
In the triple jump, Mulauzi took the top spot with a 13.51m leap, securing the Yellowjackets' fourth first-place finish of the day, while Lienert added another AARTFC mark, UR's fifth on the evening, in the 400 meters.
Lienert finished second in the 400 meters with a time of 49.84 seconds, an AARTFC qualifier, and 40th on the DIII Indoor Qualifying list, while
Colin Hascup joined the graduate student in the top five with a fifth-place result (52.54).
Mark Magyar got the Yellowjackets started on the track in the 60-meter hurdles, qualifying for the final with a seventh-place finish and 9.10-second time in the prelims, before clocking in just under nine seconds (8.995) in the final to place fifth.
Elsewhere on the track,
Richard Santarosa was UR's top finisher in the mile, finishing 11th with a time of 4:48.23.
Rochester added two more top-three results in the throwing events, for a total of nine top-three finishes on the day.
Ethan Beer led UR in the shot put with a 13.62m throw, netting second place, while
Dylan Rykert and
Kevin Fobare placed seventh and eighth, respectively, with throws of 12.76m and 12.68m.
In the weight throw,
Zajans Crapo notched a second-place result with a 15.63m toss, while Fobare notched another top-10 result (4th, 13.89m), and
Armaan Butler tied for sixth (13.29m).
In the pole vault,
Jack Maness earned a 10th-place result, clearing the 4.00m bar, while Lorenzetti made it over the 1.72m bar in the high jump to finish tied for ninth.
Cole Goodman will compete in the triple jump at the Penn State National Open on Saturday, Feb. 1 in University Park, PA, while the Yellowjackets' squad will next compete at the SUNY Brockport Multi & Invitational, beginning on Friday, Feb. 7 at 4:00 p.m. in Brockport, NY.
