LIGONIER, PA – The University of Rochester golf team topped nine nationally-ranked teams, including seven in the top-10, en route to a runner-up team finish at the 2025 Tartan Invitational hosted by Carnegie Mellon University at Laurel Valley Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.

Rochester's team score for the 54-hole event was 889, tying for second with 5th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan among the 16 teams in the field. 6th-ranked Huntingdon College edged out the Titans and Yellowjackets for the team title, scoring 886 strokes for the event.

Overall, 12 teams in the field were nationally-ranked in the most recent Division III coaches poll, with nine of the top-10 teams competing. Three others were among others receiving votes, making the Tartan Invitational one of the toughest fields in Division III golf this season.

4th-ranked Carnegie Mellon and top-ranked Emory, URochester's UAA conference rivals, rounded out the top-5 scoring teams in the tournament. The Yellowjackets added head-to-head wins against #2 Methodist, #3 Oglethorpe, #8 Washington & Lee and #10 Kenyon, among others during the week.

Sophomore Eddie Ren ended the event as UR's top finisher, ranking solo third in the 87-player field. Ren finished at 3-over par 219 for 54-holes after shooting an even-par round of 72 on the final day. Ren went out in 38 (+2) on Tuesday, but came home strong, finishing with a 34 (-2) on his inward nine to finish the day. He notched five birdies in the round, and finished with 11 over the two-day event.

Fellow sophomore Alvin Su carded a 2-over par round of 74 on Tuesday, matching Ren with birdies on the 6th, 16th and 18th holes in his round. Su ended the event in a tie for 19th place overall with a 54-hole total of 225 (9-over). The sophomore notched 38 pars overall, ranking tied for first among all golfers during the tournament.

After a terrific opening 36 holes, junior Arjun Aujla carded a top-15 finish in the event after closing the tournament with a 77 (5-over) on Tuesday. Aujla shot a 222 (6-over) for the tournament and ended the event with the third best par-4 scoring average (4.07) and eighth most pars (34) in the field.

URochester's fourth counting score in the final round was another 77, shot by first-year Anderson Palm. The 'Jacket rookie ended tied 44th overall in the field with a 54-hole total of 231.

Sophomore Galen Fowles was also a key piece in the Yellowjacket result for the week, finishing tied for 34th overall in the field with a score of 229. Fowles finished the tournament with nine total birdies, including three in his final round.

The Yellowjackets result at Laurel Valley closes out a successful fall schedule that included a tournament win at the Northeast Elite Invite, runner-up finishes at this event and the UAA Championships. URochester returns to competitive action in early March at the Hampden-Sydney Tiger Invitational.
