The Liberty League conference announced its All-League honors on Wednesday, with five members of the University of Rochester field hockey team bringing in recognition for the 2025 season.

Kara Houston was named Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year, while sophomore attacker
Erin Foley earned Liberty League Rookie of the Year accolades, as the Yellowjackets earned two of the four major awards handed out.

Abigal Mateer were selected to the Liberty League First Team, while Foley and sophomore midfielder
Sophia Cuneo were Second Team honorees. Junior attacker
Grayson Honig was the fifth 'Jacket to be named All-Conference, being an Honorable Mention selection.

This season, Rochester finished up with a 13-7 record overall and were 4-3 in the Liberty League, securing the teams 13th straight postseason appearance, ending as the fifth seed for the Liberty League Tournament.

Overall, the five All-League individuals move Rochester's total to 117 all-time, including 46 on the First Team. Houston becomes Rochester's sixth conference Defensive Player of the Year, while Foley is the fourth Rochester field hockey player to earn Rookie of the Year honors.

Defensive Player of the Year/First Team:
Kara Houston (SR, GK, #99, Woodstock, NY/Woodstock) – 3rd/4th All-League honor (2023 1st Team, 2022 HM); Houston, a four-year starter for the Yellowjackets, proved to once again be one of the best goalkeepers in the Liberty League and across Division III, compiling a 13-7 record with a 0.91 GAA and .865 save percentage with five solo and three combined shutouts on the season. Houston has started all 20 games for Rochester and allowed just 19 goals, while playing 1,255 minutes. She ranks first in the Liberty League and fourth in Division III in save percentage and is first in the conference and 15th in Division III in goals against average. This season, she earned Liberty League Defensive Player of the Week honors three times this season and has allowed more than two goals in a game just once in 2025. The senior had six games with ten or more saves, including a career-high 18 against Hamilton on Sept. 10.

First Team:
Abigal Mateer (SR, D, #28, Annville, PA/Palmyra Area) – 2nd All-League honor (2024 HM); Mateer was Rochester's top field defender, manning the center back position for most of the season. She helped the Yellowjackets defense allow just 19 goals across 20 games played, ranking second in the conference with a 0.87 goals against average. The senior did not come off the field this season, logging 1,307 minutes played across 20 starts. She chipped in a pair of game-winning shootout goals, helping Rochester defeat conference foes Skidmore and Vassar in October.

Rookie of the Year/Second Team:
Erin Foley (SO, A, #10, Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) – 1st/2nd All-League honors; Foley finished the 2025 campaign as Rochester's leading scorer, notching 6 goals and 2 assists for 14 total points. The sophomore started 16 games and ended with two game-winning goals, coming against SUNY Brockport and conference rival St. Lawrence. Foley added a goal at #8 Tufts and scored in four straight games back in the early part of the season. For the year, the sophomore ranked third on the team with 42 shots and had 27 shots on goal. She ranked top-10 in the Liberty League in both game-winning goals and shots on goal.

2nd Team:
Sophia Cuneo (SO, M, #8, Franklin, MA/Franklin) – 1st All-League honor; Played key midfield role for the Yellowjackets, holding positions on both corner units, serving as the defensive fly and offensive inserter for most of the year. This led to the sophomore notching a team-high seven assists, which ranked fourth in the Liberty League. Cuneo added two goals to end with 11 total points, tying for third on Rochester and tallied 18 shot attempts, 10 of which were on frame in 2025. The sophomore also rarely left the field, ranking second on the team with 1,301 minutes played, equaling 99-percent of possible playing time.

Honorable Mention:
Grayson Honig (JR, F, #14, Pittsburgh, PA/The Ellis School) – 2nd All-League honor (2024 1st Team); Honig finished the season as Rochester's second leading scorer with 13 points, coming on six goals and one assist over 20 games played. The junior tied for the team lead in goals and had a Rochester-best three game-winners, coming against Kenyon, SUNY Cortland and in a shootout against Rensselaer. Honig was also among the league leaders in shot attempts, firing 56 total (tied for fourth) on the year, 35 of which ended on target (seventh).
