PITTSFORD, NY – The University of Rochester women's track and field teams closed out competition at the Nazareth University D3 Elite Meet on Saturday, competing at the Golisano Training Center.
Senior's
Cora Rose and
Deziree Garrick turned in Rochester's top performances on the day, finishing third and fifth, respectively, in the shot put event. Rose tossed a personal-best 12.51 meters in her finish, while Garrick ended at 12.06 meters. Both were good enough marks to qualify for the All-Atlantic Regional Championships later this season.
Teammate
Aimee Oszer was 14th (11.34m) and
Madison Vargas finished 16th (11.27m) during the shot put competition as well.
In the 800 meters, two of UR's three runners established new personal-best times.
Julia Lantner led the group in 11th place, running a time of 2:27.47. The PR's were set by
Isabella Doty in 13th and
Talia Christopher in 18th. Doty crossed the finish in 2:28.15, while Christopher's time ended up being 2:30.25.
First-year
Peyton Classer ended 15th overall in the 400 meters, running a time of 1:02.22, while
Maya Hatch ran the 200 meters in 27.27 seconds, good for 18th place.
UR had two top-20 jumpers in the triple jump, with
Gracie Conlan ending 16th at 9.97 meters.
Ashleigh Barrett ended 19th, posting a mark of 9.58 meters.
Next weekend, Rochester heads to another meet at Nazareth, competing at the Nazareth University Conference Tune-Up on Friday afternoon at 4 pm.
