ATLANTA, GA – University of Rochester graduate student
Abby Gress was named to the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Collegiate All-Star Team, as announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Monday.
Gress is the first Yellowjacket to earn Collegiate All-Star honors since Katie Titus was named to the squad in 2023, and the third in four years after Julianna Okoniewski was selected in 2022.
The all-stars were chosen by a committee composed of head women's basketball coaches of NCAA Division III programs, all of whom are members of the WBCA. All players were nominated by WBCA member coaches.
Gress, a First-Team All-University Athletic Association (UAA), led Rochester across all five major categories this year, averaging 17.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while totaling 72 assists, 40 steals and 13 blocks.
The St. James, NY native shot 41.9 percent from the floor, 29.9 percent from three and 77.5 percent from the free-throw line, totaling 430 points, the 10th-most in a single season in program history.
Statistically, Gress ranked third in the UAA in scoring, fourth in field goals and rebounds per game, sixth in field-goal percentage and seventh in assists and steals, as well as top-100 in NCAA Division III in points per game (69th), field goal attempts (75th) and field goals (91st).
The 20 all-stars are divided into two 10-member teams coached by Dixie Jeffers, retired head coach of Capital University in Columbus, OH, and Carroll LaHaye, retired head coach of Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, VA.
Gress was named to Team Jeffers and will be joined by fellow UAA conference-mate Catherine Or, a senior at Carnegie Mellon on Jeffers' squad.
The 2025 Women's Collegiate All-Star Game presented by the WBCA will be played at 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 22, preceding the NCAA Division III women's basketball national championship game inside the Cregger Center on the campus of Roanoke College in Salem, VA.
