ITHACA, NY – Four 'Jackets notched new personal bests as the University of Rochester women's track & field team wrapped up the All-Atlantic Region Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Ithaca College inside Glazer Arena, in a three-way tie for ninth place in the 45-team field.
Rochester tallied 20 points, with
Deziree Garrick being UR's lone scorer on day two of the competition. UR finished in a three-way tie with Hamilton and Houghton for ninth, while SUNY Geneseo took home the women's team title with 106 points with Ithaca (81.83 points) and SUNY Brockport (30 points) rounding out the top-three team finishes.
Garrick led a trio of Yellowjacket finishers in the weight throw, placing sixth with a 16.23m toss, the 38th-best weight throw in NCAA Division III this season.
Liv Ilasz joined Garrick in the top 10 with a 10th-place result and 15.16m throw, a new personal best, while Cora Rosa also notched a new PR with a 15.10m toss, good for 11th.
Sab Lin and Mariah Khalifeh started Rochester's day on the track with the mile, placing 11th and 24th respectively. Lin crossed the finish line in 5:13.55, a new personal-best time, while Khalifeh finished at 5:22.26.
In the 400 meters,
Eva Ciuffetelli clocked in with another PR, finishing 14th with a time of 59.33 seconds, while
Raquella Casserino placed 24th, clocking in at 1:00.69.
Rita Sciortino notched another top-15 result for UR in the 800 meters, coming in 13th with a time of 2:21.23, while
Emily Dill came in 21st with a time of 2:22.36.
Next up for Rochester,
Nora Chen claimed 12th in the 200 meters, crossing the finish line in 25.77 seconds, while
Ellie Ponko wrapped up Rochester's day on the track with the 3,000 meters, clocking in at 10:54.61, good for 23rd.
Select Yellowjackets will next compete at the 2024-25 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Nazareth College at the Golisano Training Center in Pittsford, NY, with the field to be announced on Sunday, March 9 and the competition beginning on Friday, March 14.
