LEWISBURG, PA – After a terrific day one on Saturday, the University of Rochester women's track and field team wrapped up a strong meet at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic on Sunday afternoon at Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium.
Rochester competed in four events on day two of the meet, earning four All-Atlantic Regional qualifying times, setting multiple personal-best's and earning a couple heat wins in the process.
Leading the way was UR's 4x400 meter relay team of sophomores
Eva Ciuffetelli,
Nora Chen,
Raquella Casserino and senior
Megan Bell. The group was first among 22 teams in the event in 3:48.21, a time that puts the Yellowjackets at number six on the Division III performance list at this point in the season.
All four runners on the relay also competed in another event on Sunday. Both Chen and Ciuffetelli ran in the 400 meter hurdles. Chen finished fifth among the 64 entries with a regional time of 1:02.08, and was the top Division III finisher in the race. Ciuffetelli ranked 13th in the field and also hit the regional standard, finishing in 1:03.35.
In the 200 meters, both Bell and Casserino competed for UR. Bell crossed the finish in 19th, clocking in at 25.12 seconds, a new personal-best, while also winning her heat. Casserino's time was 25.96 seconds, also a personal-best, ranking 59th. Over 100 runners competed in the race.
UR's final competitor on the day was
Emily Dill in the 400 meters. Dill won her heat and posted a time of 1:02.05.
The Yellowjackets next meet will take place on Monday, with Rochester hosting the first of two home meets this coming week. The Rochester Spring Twilight was originally schedule for Thursday and Friday of last week, but got moved to Monday and Tuesday due to weather.
Next Saturday, UR hosts its annual Alumni Invitational track meet at Fauver Stadium.
