HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL – The University of Rochester golf team opened up its 2025-26 stroke play schedule on Sunday, competing in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Preview at the Mission Inn Resort.
The Yellowjackets opened the event with a team score of 301, ranking 17th of 24 teams in the field. Kenyon College shot a 6-under par round of 278 to lead the tournament, while UAA rival Emory sits second at 282 (2-under). Those two teams are the only teams under par in the team scoring.
Overall, the stacked field features 23 teams in the top-25 or among others receiving votes in the first in-season poll of the 2025-26 Division III season, including the top-16 teams in the country. Rochester checks in at #22.
Sophomore
Alvin Su and first-year
Anderson Palm both led the Yellowjackets on day one of the three-day tournament with scores of 2-over, 73. Both individuals carded three birdies in their rounds, and rank in a tie for 37th place in the overall individual golfer field.
Junior
Arjun Aujla carded a 77 (6-over) in his round and notched birdies on the par-5, 13th and par-5, 18th holes. Aujla is tied for 89th after the opening round.
The fourth counting scorer for Rochester was first-year
Ray Su who shot a 7-over, 78 on Sunday. R. Su is off to a strong start to his first season with the Yellowjackets after going 3-0 a couple weeks ago at the UAA Match Play Championship. His round on Sunday has the rookie in a tie for 89th.
Rounding out the Yellowjacket lineup was sophomore
Galen Fowles who shot an 84 (13-over). He is 117th on the individual leaderboard.
Jackson Hiller of host Oglethorpe University is the individual leader after 18 holes. He shot an opening round score of 66 (5-under) on Sunday.
The second round of the event tees off at 8 am on Monday, with UR's groups starting at 8:55 am. The Yellowjackets will start on the back nine holes for the second straight round.
