‘Jackets Shoot Even Par on Final Day in Florida

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL – The University of Rochester golf team finished off its first stroke play tournament of the season with a terrific round of even par, 288 to close competition at the 2025 NCAA Division III Preview at the Mission Inn Resort's El Campeon Golf Course on Tuesday.
 
Rochester's solid round moved the Yellowjackets into 19th place overall in a tournament that annual features one of the best fields in all of Division III golf. The Yellowjackets finished the 54-hole event with a team score of 901 over the three days. UR's round of even par was seventh-best in the field in the final day.
 
In the field this week were 20 of the top-25 teams in Division III in the first regular season coaches poll, with three of the other four institutions among others receiving votes, showcasing the strength of the opponents in the tournament.
 
6th-ranked Emory University mounted a third round rally to take the team title with a score of 862. #7 Methodist University finished second, one stroke behind, while host and 3rd-ranked Oglethorpe University ended third in the team standings at 864.
 
On Tuesday, sophomore All-American Alvin Su led the way for URochester with a 2-under par round of 70 on the par-72, 6,750-yard course layout at El Campeon. A. Su got off to a red-hot start, shooting birdies on four of his first seven holes, ending with five total on the day. For the tournament, the sophomore ended in 35th place with a total score of 220.
 
First-year teammate Ray Su also was under par in the final round, carding a 1-under round of 71. R. Su also finished with five birdies on the round, including getting back-to-back holes under par on #6 and #7, in the closing holes on the day (Rochester started on the back nine). The UR first-year ended the tournament in a tie for 97th place at 231, improving by 14 places on the leaderboard on day three.
 
Fellow first-year Anderson Palm was the second highest finishing Yellowjacket individual after shooting 225 for the 54-hole event, ranking 61st in the field. Palm matched his opening round 73 with another 73, this one only 1-over par, on Tuesday. His final round featured two birdies and an eagle on the par-5 1st hole to go along with five bogeys.
 
Rochester's final scoring golfer on day three was junior Arjun Aujla who shot a 2-over round of 74. Aujla was steady with 13 pars on his scorecard along with two birdies, two bogeys and one double-bogey. The round brought his total to 226 for the tournament, finishing 67th on the individual leaderboard.
 
Rounding out the 'Jacket lineup was sophomore Galen Fowles who carded a 77 in the final round. Fowles ended 115th in the tournament with a score of 242.
 
Rochester is right back in action this coming weekend, competing at the Northeast Elite Invitational, hosted by Penn State-Altoona on Sunday and Monday.
