ITHACA, NY – Powered by seven event wins, the University of Rochester men's track and field team bested the host Ithaca College Bombers and SUNY Brockport at the Ithaca College Tri-Meet on Saturday afternoon inside Glazer Arena.
Rochester totaled 114 points in the tri-meet, 21 points better than the second-place Golden Eagles, with the Bombers rounding out the top three with 84 points.
Three Yellowjackets were double-winners on the afternoon:
Barack Abdallah,
Elijah VanHoover and
Brendan McCollum, with all three earning individual wins before wrapping up URochester's day on the track with a first-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay.
Evan Bryant, Abdallah, VanHoover and McCollum combined to win the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:23.70, an All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Championships (AARTFC) qualifier, and the 29th-fastest 4x400 relay in Division III so far this season.

Ivan Wolf-Mialky,
Jack Bunaes and
Owen Bernstein also took third in the event, clocking in at 3:28.59.
Abdallah notched his first, first-place tally earlier in the day in the 200 meters, narrowly beating out Bryant for the top spot. Abdallah came in first with a time of 22.81 seconds, with Bryant right behind him in second place at 22.85 seconds.
Diego De Los Santos joined the pair in the top eight, taking eighth place with a time of 23.30 seconds.
McCollum took first place in the 800 meters, running an AARTFC-qualifying time of 1:57.35, with
Austin Skeete just over a second behind him in second place with a time of 1:58.45.
VanHoover took the top spot in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 8.71 seconds, while
Owen Alexander placed second, crossing the finish line in 8.83 seconds.
Rochester's three other event wins on the day came in the 400 meters, high jump and weight throw. Overall, the 'Jackets won seven events, tallied 20 top-three results and earned six AARTFC qualifiers.
Armaan Butler led a trio of Yellowjackets in the weight throw, setting a new personal-best throw with his 16.84m toss, good for first place and a regional qualifier.
Ethan Kaufman came in third with a 15.11m toss, while
Alex Hermann placed sixth with a 13.71m throw.
In the high jump,
Aadit Jain also led three 'Jackets in the top eight, as Jain finished first, successfully making it over the 1.94m bar, an AARTFC qualifier, while
Ray Watkins took third with a 1.78m height, and
Theo Mueller tied for fifth with a 1.73m height.
Greg Palma was one of five Yellowjackets to finish in the top eight of the 400 meters, winning the event with a time of 50.71 seconds, a new PR.
Brighton Lumia took second with a time of 51.50 seconds, and Max Freeman finished fourth, clocking in at 52.13 seconds, while
Owen Bernstein (6th, 52.35) and Bunaes (8th, 53.75) rounded out URochester's top-five runners in the event.
Elsewhere on the track,
William Stiska scored the 'Jackets' top result in the 60 meters, fourth with a time of 7.21 seconds, while De Los Santos placed eighth with a time of 7.28 seconds.
In the mile,
Anthony Cardoso placed third to lead three Yellowjacket runners, crossing the finish line in 4:40.30, while
Will Straub finished sixth (4:42.42) and
Nolan Goldthwaite came in seventh (4:44.07).
Cody Reeth took second in the pole vault, achieving a 4.46m height, an AARTFC qualifier, while
Ethan Beer notched a second-place finish in the shot put with a 14.44m toss.
In the horizontal jumping events,
Austin Lansey led three Yellowjackets who took second, third and fourth in the triple jump, placing second with a 13.88m jump, a regional qualifier, while
Kyle Kelsey took third with a new PR of 13.37m, and Lumia finished fourth at 12.85m.
Then in the long jump,
Reward Mulauzi placed third to lead the 'Jackets with a 6.65m leap, while Kelsey took fifth with another PR, 6.60m, and Jain finished seventh with a 6.36m jump.
Up next for Rochester is a split-squad weekend, with select Yellowjackets heading to New York, NY, for the NYU DIII Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 14, while the rest will compete at Nazareth's D3 Elite Meet, beginning on Friday, Feb. 13 at 4:00 p.m. in Pittsford, NY.
