Box ScoreALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL- Brandeis University topped the University of Rochester men's tennis team 7-2 to capture 7th place at the University Athletic Association on Saturday morning at Sanlando Park.
The match was a marathon, five hour long contest, which saw four of the six singles matches go to three sets and one other doubles match being forced to go to extra points.
Rochester finishes the season 13-7 while Brandeis ends the year over .500 with an 11-10 record.
In doubles, the team of freshman
Sam Leeman and senior
Boris Borovcanin won their point at 3rd doubles, winning by an 8-6 score. Brandeis would take the other doubles matches, winning 8-4 at #1 over
Julian Danko and
Jonny Baker and 9-8 (2) at #2 over
Ian Baranowski and
Ben Shapiro.
In singles, Baker earned UR's lone point at #2 singles winning in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 over Michael Arguello.
Danko, Borovcanin and Baranowski all took their matches to three sets at #3, #4 and #5 respectively, but lost to their Judges opponent.
At first singles and sixth singles, Brandeis earned straight set wins over Shapiro and Leeman to reach the final score of 7-2.
