PALMAS DEL MAR, PUERTO RICO – The University of Rochester men's tennis team finished off a 3-0 week against Division II competition following a 5-4 victory over the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras on Thursday afternoon at Palmas del Mar Tennis Club.

The victory pushes UR's record to 7-4 on the season.

Six different Yellowjackets combined for those five UR points, started by
Andrew Nunno and
Sam Leeman opening with an 8-5 win at #1 doubles over Moises Laundran and Shandor Gomez.

In singles,
Masaru Fujimaki and
Aaron Mevorach each had a 6-1, 6-0 victory at #2 and #3 respectively. Fujimaki topped Gomez while Mevorach topped Andres Lopez.

UR's other two singles points came from
Tanmay Thakkar at #4 and
Jun Yuminaga at #5. Thakkar topped Laundran 6-3, 6-3 while Yuminaga ended up winning the match clinching point against Alejandro Rodriguez 7-5, 7-5.

Rio Piedras was able to grab a 2-1 lead after doubles with wins at the #2 and #3 positions. Lopez and Jan Saria won 8-7 (1) over
Ryan Zu and
Sahaj Somani at #2 while Diego Orro and Rodriguez topped UR's
Mattias Hartveit and
Damani Eubanks 8-2 at #3.

In singles, Orro was a 7-5, 6-4 winner at Leeman at the top spot while
Yifan Shen fell in three sets to Wilfredo Negron 5-7, 6-3, 11-9.

Rochester returns to action next weekend, traveling to TCNJ and NYU for away matches on March 25 and 26.
