WEST WINDSOR, NJ – The nationally ranked College of New Jersey men's tennis team defeated the University of Rochester by an 8-1 score on Saturday morning at Mercer County Park.

Rochester (6-5) got its lone win at the #6 singles position from junior
Jun Yuminaga. He rallied after dropping the first set 6-2 to Gokul Murugesan, winning the final two by 6-3 and 10-7 scores to secure the only Yellowjacket point.

The Lions (6-1), ranked #40 nationally and #13 in the Northeast in the latest ITA rankings, got off to a quick start with three doubles wins. Starting things off was Murugesan and Tim Gavornik topping UR's
Sahaj Somani and
Tanmay Thakkar 8-2 at #3. The #2's followed with TCNJ's Jack August and Chris D'Agostino winning 8-5 over
Sam Leeman and
Andrew Nunno. At the top spot, TCNJ completed the sweep with an 8-5 win from Mtichel Sanders and Matt Puig over Yuminaga and
Masaru Fujimaki.

In singles, TCNJ picked up the first point after Nunno was forced to retire after three games in his #3 match against Omar Bokhari.

The clincher then went to TCNJ's D'Agostino, winning 6-0, 6-4 at #4 against Thakkar. Gavornik followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Somani at #5.

At the top of the ladder, Fujimaki battled Sanders but lost 7-5, 6-1 before Yuminaga picked up the UR point. Closing out the match was a Leeman against August at #2. August took the first set 6-3, Leeman responded with a 6-3 win of his own before the two embarked on a marathon 36-point tiebreak which went to August 19-17.

Rochester is back in action on Sunday at UAA rival New York University.
