The matchup paired the teams ranked #17 (NYU) and #18 (Rochester) regionally. NYU is 5-2 overall (and ranked #29 nationally). The defeat slipped Rochester's record to 7-6 overall.

The Yellowjacket point was earned at #2 singles by
Masaru Fujimaki. He defeated Benedict Teoh, 7-6 (7-3) in the first set and was awarded the victory when Teoh retired.

In doubles, Teoh paired with Michael Li to defeat Fujimaki and
Aaron Mevorach, 8-4. NYU won the point at first doubles, 8-4 with Samuel Khoshbin and Umberto Setter defeating
Sam Leeman and
Jun Yuminaga. The Violets won at third doubles, 8-5. Matt DeMichiel and Zeb Aheng defeated S
Sahaj Somani and
Tanmay Thakkar.

NYU won its five singles victories in straight sets. Setter defeated Leeman, 6-4, 6-3, at #1. DeMichiel topped Mevorach, 6-2, 6-1, at #3. Li earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Thakkar at #4, Vishal Walis defeated Yuminaga, 7-5, 6-2, at #5, and Xavier Pacthod defeated Somani, 6-4, 6-1, at #6.

Rochester heads for Ohio in the coming week. The Yellowjackets play at Oberlin College on Saturday at 11 am and take on John Carroll on Sunday at 10 am.
