ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL – New York University defeated the University of Rochester men's tennis team by a 7-2 score in the 7th place match of the UAA Championships on Sunday morning at Sanlando Park.

#31-ranked NYU moves to 10-4 with the win while Rochester's season comes to an end with a 9-12 record.

After doubles, Rochester trailed 2-1, following a win at #3 from
Tanmay Thakkar and
Andrew Nunno who topped Matt DeMichiel and Zeb Zheng 8-6. NYU took the top two spots 8-4 and 8-2 respectively. The Violets got their wins from Umberto Setter and Samuel Khoshbin over
Jun Yuminaga and
Masaru Fujimaki at #1 and from Michael Li and Benedict Teoh over
Mattias Hartveit and
Sam Leeman.

In singles the Violets quickly clinched the match with wins at #3, Li over Nunno 6-2, 6-0, #6 Yanick Parsch over
Ryan Zu 6-1, 6-1, and Vishal Walia over Yuminaga at #4 by the same 6-1, 6-1 score.

After Setter topped Leeman 6-2, 6-3 at #1, Rochester's Fujimaki earned the lone UR singles point with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Teoh at #2. NYU closed the match with a win from Xavier Pacthod over Thakkar. The pair were locked in a tight match trading the first two sets, 6-3, and 6-2, but Thakkar was forced to retire early in the third.
