4x4 Relay Tops Division III Following Geneseo Meet

GENESEO, NY – Day one of action at the SUNY Geneseo Roundtable Invitational featured four NCAA top-20 performances and five top-3 finishes for the University of Rochester women's track and field team.
 
The opening day of competition featured the relays, sprints, jumps and men's throws at Geneseo, with a total of seven teams competing. Joining UR were host Geneseo, Brockport, St. John Fisher, Nazareth, RIT and Buffalo.
 
Rochester's highlight of the day was the 4x400 meter relay who ranks #1 on the NCAA Division III performance list following Friday's action. The quartet of Michaela Burrell, Susan Bansbach, Eileen Bequette and Kristin Hardy finished in 3:55.85, just a shade over two seconds off the school record.
 
Burrell also excelled individually. She placed first overall in the 100 meters and now ranks #3 in Division III after her winning time was clocked at 12.12 seconds. Additionally, Burrell was runner-up in the 200 meters and ranks #14 in Division III after posting a time of 25.35 seconds.
 
Bansbach also had a top-20 NCAA Division III time this season with her performance in the 400 meters. The sophomore crossed the finished in third place and earned a time of 59.16 seconds.
 
Joining Burrell in the top-8 in the 100 meters was Kate Isaac in sixth (12.88 seconds) and Ashley Heffernan in seventh (12.90 seconds). Heffernan also finished sixth in the 100 meter hurdles (16.15 seconds), one spot behind Bequette (5th, 15.94 seconds).
 
UR's Alyssa Hoogs had a solid result in the triple jump, earning a mark of 10.38 meters, good for third place.
