UR Has Two Competitors On Day Two of NCAA's

GREENSBORO, NC – Senior Eileen Bequette and sophomore Susan Bansbach both represented the Rochester women's track and field team on day two of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Irwin Belk Track Complex.
 
Bequette competed in the final three events of the heptathlon, while Bansbach ran individually in the 400 meters.
 
In the heptathlon, Bequette tallied a 13th place finish overall, accumulating 4,270 points. Her first event of the day was the long jump where she finished 11th in the field with a mark of 5.14 meters, scoring 598 points.
 
Bequette's best event of the seven in the heptathlon was the javelin where she ended fourth with a toss of 34.41 meters, adding 560 points to her total. The final event of the day was the 800 meters and the UR senior crossed the finish in 2:42.88, scoring 540 points, ending 13th.
 
Bansbach's race in the 400 meters saw the sophomore end in 16th place after clocking in with a time of 57.61 seconds.
 
Both runners will return to the track on Saturday as a part of the Yellowjacket 4x400 meter relay team, competing in the final of that event at 3:50 pm tomorrow. UR will also be represented on Saturday in the finals of both the women's 1500 meters by grad student Jordan Hurlbut (12:25 pm) and in the men's 1500 meters by Scott Sikorski (12:35 pm).
