BETHLEHEM, PA – Through five events, Rochester has two multi-event performers among the top four scorers in the 2022 NCAA Atlantic Region Outdoor Track & Field Championships being conducted on the campus of Moravian College.

Fifty-five institutions are competing here. Just over half the teams (30) have managed to earn points with top eight finishes. Carnegie Mellon University leads the pack with 25 points. The College of New Jersey is second with 23 points, and Rowan University is third with 21.5.

The competition is scheduled to wrap up on Thursday. Results from all the regionals will help to determine the field for the NCAA Championship Meet next week at SPIRE in Ohio.

Alex Opsahl is third overall in decathlon scoring through the first five events. He has 3,192 points.
Jarod Forer is fourth with 3,080 points.

Forer was Rochester's top finisher in the 100 meter run (second place :11.63 , 725 points), the long jump (second, 6.52 m., 702 points), and  the 400 meter run (second, :52.18, 727 points). He was seventh in the shot put (9.89 meters, 479 points) and seventh in the high jump (1.59 m., 477 pts.).

Opsahl had an outright win in the shot put (12.33 m., 626 pts.). He was second in the high jump (1.83 m., 653 pts.), third in the 400 meters (:53.49, 661 pts.). He finished sixth in the long jump (6.17 m., 624 pts.) and eighth in the 100 meter dash (:12.12, 628 pts.).

The two men ahead of Opsahl and Forer are Thomas Rich of Carnegie Mellon (3,570) and Matthew Moransky of Misiericordia University (3,284 pts.).

In the running events completed on Wednesday, two men finished in the top 14 for the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
Max Hughes was 12
th (9:46.14) and Nathaniel Brunacini was 14
th (9:46.98).
Zach Spergel ran to a 23
rd place finish in the 5,000 meter run (16:05.01).
Mitch Lienert finished 23
rd in the 100 meter dash (:11.08).
Peter Brodnik qualified for Thursday's final in the 110 high hurdles. He was timed in :15.36 and finished eighth.

James O'Neill threw the discus 42,14 m. He was 18
th overall.
Sam Lorenzetti jumped 13.60 m. in the triple jump (10
th overall).
