PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Rochester launched the men's indoor track & field season successfully on Friday night with a series of good performances at a five-team meet hosted by Nazareth College.

The Yellowjackets had one outright win – first-year Cole Goodman won the triple jump, clearing 14.24 meters (46' 8 ¾"). It is the fourth longest jump in the young Division III season nationally - and is the fourth longest triple jump distance in Rochester's indoor track & field history. He met the qualifying standard for the 2021-22 All-Atlantic Regional Championship Meet which will be held later in the winter – at Nazareth as it turns out. Kyle Lane was sixth in the triple jump, clearing 13.18 m. (43' 3").

Gabe Lundy was an Atlantic qualifier with a second place finish in the 400 meter run. All four runners in the event met the standard. Lundy was timed in :50.21. The other qualifier came in the shot put. James O'Neill was third with a distance of 13.89 m. (45'7").

Rochester's weightmen did well. Four throwers places in the top eight in the shot put and two made their mark in the weight throw. Dylan Rykert was fourth in the shot (13.13 m. – 43'1"). Ryan Swavely was seventh in the event (12.75 m. – 41'10"). Aeden Angelone was eighth (12.56 m,. – 41' 2 ½"). In the weight throw, Swavely was third (14.88 m. - 48'10") and O'Neill seventh (13.93 m. – 45' 8 ½").

The vertical jumps had Goodman and Lane in the triple, Lane and Frederick Liu in the long jump. Lane cleared 6.53 m. – 21' 5 ¼") to seize fourth place in the long jump. Liu was close behind in fifth place (6.52 m. – 21' 4 ¾"). Angelone was fifth in the high jump with a leap of 1.84 m. (6' ½") to finish fifth.

Among the sprinters, Rochester had three finishers in the top eight in the 60 meters – Kudzai Mbinda was third (:07.33), P.J. London fourth (:07.34), and Steven Li eight (:07.42). In the qualifiers for that race, London was fourth and Li barely edged out Mbinda for sixth place (:07.3551 to :07.3555). Peter Brodnik qualified for the finals of the 60 meter hurdles (0:08.74, fourth overall), then ran a 0:08.98 for fifth place in the final.

Christian Voloshen was fifth in the 500 meters (1:09.40). He ran the second leg of the 4x400 meter relay, timed in 3:31.19. The other runners were Max Creamer, Lundy, and Andy Freeman. The leadoff 4x200 meter relay was third (1:35.52 – Liu, Jay Cobham, London, Manny Eribo).
