GENESEO, N.Y. – The women's track and field program broke two school records in field events on Saturday at the SUNY Geneseo Roundtable Invitational. Both performances are among the top five in Division III events this spring.

Kari Leap finished second in the discus throw with a distance of 42.85 meters. That broke the existing school record of 42.21 set by Grace Messina in 2019. Gillian Reeder was fifth in the discus (32.40 m.). Leap and Reeder placed top five in the hammer throw. Reeder was third (44.29 m.) and Leap was fifth (42.45 m.).

The other school record that fell was the pole vault. Madeline O'Connell cleared 3.60 m., just ahead of Lindsay Carbone's vault of 3.57 m. in 2014. O'Connell was second in the event at Geneseo. It is tied for third place in Division III currently. Ashley Heffernan was fourth at Geneseo (3.00 m.).

Eileen Bequette won the javelin throw (37.73 m.). Iris Chi was fourth (31.59 m.) and Reeder was sixth (30.46 m.).

In the running events, Elisabeth Rott and Kristen Lodato ran to third place finishes. Rott was timed in 12:03.90 for the steeplechase. Sabina Terando was seventh (13:02.95) and  Danielle Bartolotta was eighth (13:19.64).

Jordan Hurlbut nearly broke the 800 meter record. Her finish of 2:14.41 (second overall) was just shy of the record time of 2:12.90 by Katherine O'Brien in 2003.

Four women placed in the 5,000. Kristen Lodato was third (18:13.77), Icel Sukovty was fourth (18:22.87), Rachel Dennis seventh (19:01.33), and Meredith Ackley eighth (19:08.06). Sarah Farid was seventh in the 1,500 (5:14.93).

Men Place in Three Events
Rochester had top eight performances in two running events for the men and one field event. Christian Voloshen was fourth in the 800 meters (2:01.39). Nick Gaitanis was seventh in the 5,000 (16:05.40). James Schmidt tied for eighth place in the pole vault, clearing 3.70 meters.
