PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Rochester's men had an outstanding day at the Nazareth College Conference Challenge Cup. Rochester won two events outright, had five performers qualify for the All-Atlantic Regional Championships, and set a meet record.

With everything finished except for the multi-event championships on Sunday, Rochester is third of 11 schools at the meet. UR accumulated 96 points, 10 ahead of fourth-placed Williams College, and not that far adrift of SUNY Geneseo as the leader (136 pts.) and SUNY Cortland (121 pts.).

The meet record breaker was
Gabe Lundy in the 400 meter run. He won the event in :49.87. That qualified him to compete in the All-Atlantics. The other individual champion for Rochester was
Scott Sikorski. He won the mile run in 4:18.24, followed closely by
James Catania in second place (4:23.20). Both mile runners will be at the Atlantic meet.

Mitch Lienert qualified in the 200 meters with a time of :22.88. He ran on the 4x400 meter relay which was timed in 3:27..23 to finish third (Lienert,
Gabe Thyne, Lundy,
Christian Voloshen). The 4x200 meter relay was second overall (1:33.10) filled by Lienert, Lundy,
P.J. London, and
Manny Eribo. London joined Lienert in the 200 finishers: Lienert second, London sixth (:23.09).

Peter Brodnik qualified for the finals of the 60 meter hurdles by running a time of :08.94. In the finals, he finished in :08.85, good for fourth place points.

Rochester did not have any top eight finishers in either the 5,000 meters or the 3,000 meters. UR did run a distance medley unit and it finished in second place (11:21.11 –
Max Hughes,
Max Creamer, Sikorski,
Daniel Ford).

There was one qualifier among the field events.
Cole Goodman was third in the triple jump (14.10 m. – 46' 3.25"). Goodman and
Frederick Liu ran 4-5 in the long jump. Goodman leaped 6.63 m. (21'9") and Liu jumped 6.60 m, (21' 8"). Among the throwers for the men,
James O'Neill was third (13.78 m., 45' 2.5") and
Ryan Swavely seventh (12.83 m., 42' 1.25") in the shot put. In the weight throw, they were reversed: Swavely third in 15.83 m. (51' 11.75") and O'Neill eighth (14.25 m. – 46' 9").
